"THE SHADOW AS THRESHOLD"

(image source: Erika Kruger, The shadow as threshold, The Black Box, The Concealed Room, 2004. P.22)

The old temple kind of thing in this image provides a contrast between far and near by using the pattern from black to white. The background which is consist of some black columns gives me a strong feeling of mysteriousness and a sign in my brain says, 'this is an unexplored area'. For the nearest part, though it is right in front to me, it looks very unclear. To look at it, the middle part might be the turest one in the entire image. The white and grey colours for the basement create an atmosphere that is like the whole picture is filled with fog and cloud, which upgrade the mysterious tone.

The tone of this image gives the feeling of 'unpredictable' to me. The compositions of shadow, which is represented in different levels between black and white, let the word 'THRESHOLD' out. In my design, I am going to use water to make this sort of obscure view. And also the adding lab is to give the vision of 'Tornado' which is comprised of clouds and lightning.

Ramp and Meeting Point - V2

Ramp - Nobel

Lab - Nobel
The brown block right in the middle is the lab for Nobel. The lab is surrounded by cloud with lightning, wihch is called 'TORNADO'.

Ramp - Coustea

Lab - Coustea
This is the 'Undersea World' created for Coustea. This is showing off the natural rule of 'Eating', which is represented by few fishes biting head to head followed by a big mouth from some unnameable species.

Meeing Point
For the meeting point, my way of thinking is to use this volumn of seawater in stead of a solid concrete construction. Water gives me the sense of flowing, neutral and the chemistry word 'solubility'. So I think it would be a perfect place for the two clients to exchange their ideas and works.
